Job Purpose

Reporting to the Area Coordinator, the Associate Area Coordinator position is a key leadership role based in the field office in Zomba. The incumbent will be part of the program leadership team playing an important role in leading program implementation at the field level, in delivering the chlorine dispenser safe water intervention to the target communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputize the Area Coordinator in managing the dispenser program and field office.
  • Take delegated responsibilities in logistical and field operation planning, supervision and reporting.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings at district, national levels.
  • Lead a team of Field Officers to collaboratively work with Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) to deliver high quality community sensitization and education meetings
  • Lead a team of Field Officers to deliver high quality community sensitization and education meetings
  • Lead a team of Field Officers to deliver high quality community leaders meetings and local Government sensitization meetings
  • Lead the field teams in the execution of dispenser related activities e.g. Water Point Nominations, water point verification Water point dispenser installations, Chlorine service/ dispenser maintenance and field surveys administration
  • Manage field finance expenses prudently with proper accountability and transparency in line with the finance policy.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach, Field officers, community field/service assistants in the execution of their duties
  • Support field teams on Field data administration for various activities through smart phone technology
  • Develop weekly work plans and reports for field activities

  • Other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Area Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Management, Development Studies, Community Development, Project Management or equivalent.
  • Good language skills in English, Chichewa and Yao both spoken and written
  • 2-3 years’ experience in management and or working with communities or social enterprises/Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO)
  • Consistent above average performance for the last 1-2 years for DSW.
