Nascent Solutions Inc. (Nascents) is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit international development organization. Its mission is to enable vulnerable people, especially women and children in rural Africa, to develop skills for self-sufficiency. The organization’s areas of focus are food security and nutrition, health, literacy and skills development, and gender equity.

Nascent Solutions will be implementing a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)-funded McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program in Malawi for the period October 2019-September 2024. The program will be implemented in various communities in the Central and Southern regions of the country.

Commodity Manager

Position Summary
Nascent Solutions (Nascent) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Commodity Manager to oversee the procurement, transport, storage, and distribution of food and non-food commodities under the 2019 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program (McGovern-Dole) in central and southern Malawi. The five-year program is designed to improve the literacy of school-age children through improved literacy instruction, student attentiveness, and student attendance, to increase the use of positive health and dietary practices and support maternal and child nutrition (MCN).

Reporting to the program Chief of Party (CoP) and based in Lilongwe, the Commodity Manager will be
responsible for the review and consolidation of all status reports as required by USDA/McGovern-Dole
FFE. S/he will be responsible for analyzing commodity losses, consolidation of required documentation
related to commodities in line with USDA/McGovern-Dole FFE procedures, and the review of all field and
site monitoring reports to ensure proper follow-up. Additionally, this role will be responsible for ensuring
the existence of adequate internal control systems in the management of commodities.
