The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is the global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS and has reached more than 26 million women with services to prevent transmission of HIV to their babies. In 2015-2016, EGPAF supported activities in 19 countries and nearly 5,000 sites to implement prevention, care, and treatment services; to further advance innovative research; and to execute global advocacy activities that bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children, and families worldwide.

EGPAF has worked in Malawi since 2001. Today, EGPAF Malawi implements evidence‐based HIV prevention, care and treatment interventions in 179 health facilities in nine districts through EGPAF’s U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief/U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (PEPFAR/CDC) ‐ funded HIV Service Delivery, Quality Improvement and Health Systems Strengthening Program. Position Details

Job title : Field Supervisor (4)

Reports to : Study Coordinator

Location : Blantyre, Zomba & Thyolo

Duration : 6 months from June 2019

Job Summary

The Research Field Supervisor will be based between four research sites. He/She will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the research team in the respective study sites. He/She will coordinate day-to-day operations of the implementation of the study and ensure that the pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review and develop a familiarity with the protocol
  • Supervise and manage 4 site staff and working tools
  • Develop schedules for study team and ensure adherence to the schedules
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance and quality assurance throughout the study
  • Ensure field research staff maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times and adherence to the study protocol
  • Ensure that questionnaires and interviews are completed correctly
  • Ensure work goes according to agreed study timelines
  • Complete study documentation and maintains study files in accordance with study protocol, sponsor requirements and EGPAF policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the trouble shooting components of the research study
  • Perform any other relevant duties assigned by Study Coordinator

Required Qualification, Experience and Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health related field, statistics, or demography
  • At least 2 years’ experience in study coordination
  • Experience conducting in-depth interviews for qualitative data collection
  • Experience in surveys or data collection
  • People management skills – able to manage/coordinate data collection staff
  • Experience in collecting data especially in the health sector
  • Competence in data collection using electronic devices
  • Excellent computer skills required, with experience in MS Access plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work odd hours and over weekends
  • Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in English and Chichewa
  • Experience in working within the Government system especially the Health sector
