Finance Officer

Oxfam

FINANCE OFFICER -Malawi (INT5488)

Contract type:  Fixed Term – 2 years 11 Months

Location: Lilongwe

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

Oxfam has received funding from Global Affairs of Canada (GAC) to implement a four-year project titled “Her Future, Her Choice:  Strengthening Young Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights”- HFHC

The “Her Future, Her Choice:  Strengthening Young Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights” program was developed to respond to the gender inequality and women’s rights violations undermining access to comprehensive, rights-based sexual and reproductive health information and services for adolescent girls and young women (10-24 years) in selected districts of Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.  The program directly addresses the barriers that are hindering access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for adolescent girls and young women in program communities – particularly harmful social norms, traditional practices and taboos regarding sexuality; lack of adequate information on SRH services; and lack of decision-making power by women regarding their health and sexuality.  In so doing, the program ultimately contributes to transforming gender inequality and discrimination, which are at the root of these barriers.

During its four-year duration, Her Future, Her Choice will directly benefit approximately 160,000 adolescent girls and young women in eight districts in the four countries. Oxfam and its partners in Malawi will implement this project in Balaka and Lilongwe Districts. The Project will seek to improve adolescent girls’ and young women’s comprehensive SRHR in targeted districts.
