Nsanje District Health Office
Nsanje District Hospital with support from Medicines San Frontier (MSF) would like to engage the services of an Infection Prevention Coordinator Nurse who will have and oversight over all infection control and prevention related activities within the Nsanje District Hospital and its Health Facilities.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above-mentioned position.

Will be required to establish IPC standards.
Will be required to establish and implement infection control programs, alongside the departmental directors, throughout the facility.
Responsible for coordinating the infection control program.
Ensure the infection prevention and control procedures meet national &WHO/MSF regulations, standards or guidelines.
Responsible for policies and procedures within the organization related to infection control.
Organize Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings and maintain all meeting minutes.
Coordinate with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, IPC coordinator, MSF IPC manager to determine the direction of activities and actively evaluate effectiveness of the Infection Prevention and Control Plan.
Develop and implement continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms relating to infectious diseases.
Participate in infection prevention and control education of all employees during orientation and annually thereafter, including classes in infection prevention and control practices and employee health.
Ensures compliance with national requirements and clinical responsibilities.
Participates as an integral team member, collaborating with various departments and colleagues as needed to advocate for patient and employee health and safety.
Will be responsible for annual N95 testing and the management of potential blood exposures.
Supports administration with employee health databases.
Provides consultation and education to staff, physicians and community leaders in respect to Infection Prevention & Control.
Have flexibility to perform other duties as assigned or requested from time to time.
Valid Certificate in Nursing required (Bachelors degree highly desirable but not a must).
Minimum of three (3) years experience in healthcare required.
Previous experience in infection prevention and control highly desirable but not a must.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
Ability to work in multidisciplinary team.
Excellent negotiations and communication skills.
Registration with Medical Council of Malawi/ Nurses Council of Malawi or any relevant bodies.
