Abt Associates seeks a qualified M&E Data Entry Clerk to support the YESA project in Malawi. The Data Entry Clerk will work effectively with the Monitoring and Evaluation Department and Program team in ensuring accurate and timely capturing of M&E data. The position will report to the M&E Learning Specialist and will work in close coordination with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist, ICT Director, and District Education Coordinators. The M&E Data Clerk will also regularly directly engage with the MoEST District Education Management Information Officers/DEMISO and Zonal Education Management Information Officer.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Data Compilation and Management:

  • Compilation of all relevant data, necessary for program  implementation and monitoring and evaluation system
  • Ensure receipt of all monthly and other Data  reporting forms from all the education divisions
  • Ensure complete and accurate data entry and follow up where there are missing data reporting forms
  • Conduct follow-up visits and phone calls to MoEST DEMISO/ZEMISO/YESA DECs  to  ensure that Data received is the most precise data
  • Sharing the collected data with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist and Project staff and assist in developing reports
  • Assist the Project Team as needed including; running reports of data used to make decisions

Data Quality Management:

  • Undertake site visits to validate field reports
  • Identify errors and return forms with errors to those responsible
  • Ensure that data is stored accurately and confidentially


  • Maintain filling system to ensure secure and organized storage of site reporting forms and other related M&E documents
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites:

  • Diploma in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field from a recognized institution
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education ( MSCE)
  • Experience with typing or data entry will be given a high level of preference
  • Basic admin and computer skills
  • Statistical software experience I.e. SPSS, STATA and MS Excel would be advantageous
  • Basic filing experience
  • Ability to enter data with high level accuracy , speed and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and meet strict, often concurrent, deadlines while maintaining high quality of work
  • Ability to analyze data/information to identify potential unresolved issues
  • Ability to collect and review data/information for multiple activities simultaneously, and review data/information quickly
  • Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with overseas staff who may not speak English as a first language in a culturally competent manner
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must
  • Fluency in English and Chichewa

Minimum Qualifications:

  • (0.5) year of experience and high school diploma OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
