Qualifications and skills

• Academic degree in either accounting, economics, public finance or equivalent field, and/or recognised professional qualification in accounting.
• General professional experience
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in public financial management ideally in developing countries.

Specific professional experience

• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in public finance management reforms;
• In-depth knowledge of internal controls in the areas of Commitment control and /or payroll management and/or pensions management; and/or
• Management and oversight of state owned enterprises;
• Prior experience in Sub-Saharan-African countries would be an advantage.

Characteristics

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; and
• Willingness to commit 5 years to this significant challenge in Malawi.
