CCAP Synod of Livingstonia Education Department

The CCAP, Synod of Livingstonia, Education Department (ED) is one of departments in the Synod of Livingstonia with over 580 primary schools, 7 secondary schools,1 Technical College, 5 special needs schools and a teacher training college. It is one of the main providers of education in the synod’s catchment area in the country, working in close partnership with the government and other stakeholders in the education sector. The mission of the department is “To promote equitable access, relevance, quality and improved governance and management of the education department’, This will endeavour sustainable socioeconomic development and poverty reduction in Malawi.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested Malawians to fill the following position at Loudon Teachers Training College.

Position : Principal

Contract period : 3 years renewable

Location: Embangweni, South of Mzimba District


  • Reports directly to Synod Education Department
  • Interprets education policy and legislation
  • Supervises all activities of the college
  • Reviews activities of the college and implements change when feasible and advisable
  • Contributes to the formulation and implementation of teacher training policies
  • Coordinates teacher training programmes
  • Controls curriculum and syllabus, including practical training
  • Controls academic output and quality
  • Monitors implementation of academic plans
  • Supervises research activities
  • Manages financial and other resources
  • Prepares budget estimates
  • Directs administrative activities of the college
  • Monitors and supervises heads of departments
  • Provides leadership over staffing duties
  • Liaises with the Synod Education Department and other stakeholders of staff development
  • Advise on career development
  • Conducts meetings with management, teaching and support staff Steers the following committees: Management, Budget, Funds allocation; Internal; Procurement, Quality Management and Timetable Committees.
  • Prepares college calendar of events
  • Enforces cleanliness and general good behavior among staff and students
  • Enforces student and staff discipline
  • Supervises Hostel Wardens and Student Advisors.


  • Must possess a University Degree (BA, BSc) in Education those with Masters Degree will have an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in administration and training teachers.
  • God fearing and sober minded,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English are a must.
  • Self-starter and innovative
  • Work with minimal supervision.
