Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of printer existing at Montfort Media, a leading print and publishing house based in Balaka.
POSITION: PRINTER/PRESS OPERATOR
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure that print products are of the highest quality, which includes the color, shape, and sharpness of the final product.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understanding the whole process of printing
Making sure that colors are matched as closely as possible to the pre-press proofs
Making sure that ink levels are sufficient throughout the day
Restocking ink if necessary
Deciding which materials should be used
Inserting the materials into the presses
Performing quality checks at regular intervals
Taking action if these checks do not result in positive results
Fixing problems with the machines
Cleaning presses throughout the day
Maintaining the quality of the machines
Review job orders to determine any special printing instructions, stock specifications, colors or quantities to be printed
Fill ink fountains and purchase or mix inks throughout the week as needed. Adjust flow rates of ink fountains to achieve the desired flow amount for each press run.
Start presses and check proofs for ink alignment, registration, density and coverage. Make adjustments as needed.
SKILLS & QUALITIES:
Strong attention to detail
Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to prioritize projects, work independently and follow up on tasks in a timely manner
Must be reliable and punctual.
Diploma in Print and related areas from recognized institutions
Those with experience and higher qualifications in print media will have an added advantage.
