The United States Agency for International Development Global Health Supply Chain—Procurement and Supply Management project will lead an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) activity to pursue the bidirectional use of UAVs to and from health facilities in the Nkhata Bay area. The activity goal is improving health outcomes through increased speed and availability of deliveries.

Principal Duties

The remote pilot/visual observer (RPVO) is responsible for the visual observation of the UAV/drone at take-off or landing, and for taking over manual control in the event of a problem. RPVOs will master SOPs and communication protocols, load and unload drone cargo deliveries, follow the pre-flight checklist, and report any abnormalities to the main flight operator. They serve as a secondary check of the flight conditions before take-off and a secondary monitor of flight progress. Multiple positions in Nkhata Bay are available.


• Experience remote piloting any UAV, robot, autonomous vehicle, or controller-based video gaming
• Ability to lift up to 8 kg of weight safely
• Proven history of reliability demonstrated through reference checks
• Working proficiency in English required.

Location: This position is located in the Nkhata Bay region of Malawi with travel throughout the country as requested. Chemonics will not support relocation costs.
