POST: Secondary School Teacher (Grade TI) Humanities

SALARY: Within the Grade TI Salary Scale

LOCATION: Various Secondary Schools in Malawi


Applicants should be serving teachers at Grade TJ with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience at that grade holding a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma; OR at Grade TK and TL with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience at that grade holding a Bachelor’s Degree, specialized in any of the following subject: Geography, History, Social Studies, or Life Skills, obtained from accredited institutions.


Successful candidates will be responsible to the Headteacher and will carry out the following duties: –


• Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans in the various subjects’ areas;
• Designing an appropriate time for the whole term and determining number of lessons per day and per week according to syllabus;
• Identifying and acquiring relevant textbooks for library and class use; and
• Preparing teaching materials.


• Preparing method of teaching and assessing students;
• Ensuring that all relevant teaching materials are available and improvise where necessary;
• Ensuring that subject matter is delivered within the allocated time;
• Ensuring that the chalkboard and laboratory are clean before and after use; and
• Ensure that safety rules in the laboratory are followed (for the sciences teachers).


• Ensuring that students are given enough work to do;
• Supervising practical and class work;
• Ensuring that students’ behavior is consistent with standing regulations; and
• Ensuring to be exemplary to students.
