Northern Region Water Board


Northern Region Water Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced Malawian Nationals to fill five vacant positions of Security Guards.

Northern Region Water Board is a parastatal organization that was established in 1996 under the Water Works Act (Cap 72:01) of the Laws of Malawi. The core mandate of Northern Region Water Board is to supply potable water to urban, peri-urban and upcoming marketing centres in the Northern Region of Malawi.

Under the general supervision of the Security Supervisor, the Security Guard shall be responsible for safeguarding Northern Region Water Board’s property and resources. The Security Guard shall be responsible for the following specific duties among others:

  1. Guarding Northern Region Water Board’s property and resources like vehicles, motorcycles, offices and plant and equipment.
  2. Escorting cashiers to the bank.
  3. Providing access control to Board premises.
  4. Conducting patrols in restricted areas such as water reservoirs and treatment plants
  5. Safe keeping and cleaning rifles.
  6. Detecting security threats and alerting the security supervisor
  7. Preparing and submitting security situation reports to the Security Supervisor.

This position requires a mature, well qualified and experienced person, therefore, candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.
  • At least five years’ experience obtained from recognized security service institutions such as Malawi Defence Forces, Malawi Police Service or Malawi Young Pioneers.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Must be at least 40 years old
  • Must be physically fit.

Northern Region Water Board shall offer an attractive package commensurate with qualifications, which shall include salary, medical cover, water allowance, and membership to a Contributory Group Pension Scheme.
