We are a non-governmental and profit making organization operating High Value Horticulture farming multilevel Membership. Being a local agricultural Horticulture specialist in all two hundred high value horticulture crops. Aims at the promotion of agriculture sector, job creation for the youth, inspiring farmers and the retired through production, marketing and value addition.
We have a vision to eradicate food insecurity by supporting farmers through world-class training platform of multi-level membership by Providing horticulture food and financial security through practical trainings on our multilevel farming platform as our mission.

Our mandate is providing horticulture food and financial security through practical trainings on our multilevel farming platform. With the ongoing food and financial insecurity threatening the survival of humanity on the earth  surface , especially in the third world countries, Synthesis has the vision to resolve these challenges by implementing a world-class Horticulture Membership platform that brings finances and food to every individual and family irrespective of social status on the continent.

Our origin is Africa and our scope is the whole world with focus on third world countries and disaster regions with prevailing financial insecurity. We believe that the right to food is a basic human right and the opportunity to secure food and finances should be available to everyone. Therefore, everyone can definitely secure these rights by being an active member on our platform.

As horticulture Specialist Company we are into Farm Management, Farm Visits and      scouting farm Management Consultations, Farm business Planning and setting, Farm produces Value addition, Farm Produce Selling and Marketing, Farm produce exports, Farm soil ,water test and analysis report, Irrigation schemes Rehabilitation, Seeds and chemical distribution, Green House development and Management, Irrigation   design and installation


Duties and responsibilities

1.    Directs and coordinates worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping.

2.    Contacts with farmers or independent owners for raising of crops or for management of crop production.

3.    Coordinates growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses, and other related departments.

4.    Analyzes market conditions to determine acreage allocations.

5.    Confers with purchasers and arranges for sale of crops.

6.    Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports.

7.    Determines procedural changes in drying, grading, storage, and shipment for greater efficiency and accuracy.

8.     Inspects equipment to ensure proper functioning.

9.    Inspects orchards and fields to determine maturity dates of crops or to estimate potential crop damage from weather.

10.  Plans and directs development and production of hybrid plant varieties with high yield or disease and insect resistant characteristics.

11.  Analyzes soil to determine type and quantity of fertilizer required for maximum production.

12.  Evaluates financial statements and makes budget proposals.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):

The incumbent will need to show evidence of the following:

Have a proven ability in the farm management field in keeping with the size and complexity of this position a knowledge of food production and an awareness of customer demand, food standards and sustainability
Have the necessary planning and organisational skills to achieve targets and carry out Company policies
The ability to work under pressure and accept the role as a Horticulture Farm manager within a corporate farming operation and work actively as a team member in developing and achieving Company objectives;
Have the ability to act with tact and diplomacy in motivating and disciplining staff while complying with the requirements of the Employment Relations Act of Malawi and  supervisory skills and management ability
marketing skills, negotiation skills and numerical  skills
willingness to be outside in all weathers and patient to undertake all sorts of practical, sometimes repetitive jobs
Be able to provide role clarity and ensure teamwork amongst staff; self-motivation, with the ability to motivate others
Larger-scale business awareness and genuine commitment to farming
IT skills and have a proven ability in the Horticulture farm management field in keeping with the size and complexity of this position;
Be able to communicate effectively at all levels both within and outside the Company; good Horticulture technical knowledge
A good understanding of Horticulture modern farming methods and promote and project a positive attitude towards the Company and its objectives;
Be committed to Crop welfare and have an understanding of the ways in which farming impacts the environment

1-3 years of work experience and a demonstrated passion for our mission. Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to:

•  A degree in agronomy, crop science, soil science or a related field is strongly preferred

• 1-3 years’ experience with an agribusiness, in agricultural extension or practical farmer-facing research.

• Experience with conducting desk and field research, especially for agricultural products.

• Conversant with Microsoft Office suite (word, excel, powerpoint, etc).

• Adept at incorporating various data points and making a data-driven recommendation.

• Ability to communicate ideas and analyses succinctly and clearly.

• Eager to learn and incorporate feedback, including farmer feedback, into your work and ideas.

• Ability to build teams and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

• Language: English required, Chichewa preferred.


Candidates with the following attributes would be strongly preferred:

• Experience with farmer-level extension work.

• Experience with testing new trainings, products or ideas in rural settings, for eg. via surveys or FGDs.

• Experience with creating needs-based solutions for rural consumers, clients or beneficiaries.
