Temporary Reproductive Health Clinical Officers

Job Summary

The Clinical Officer will be responsible for providing long acting and permanent methods of contraception.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage client flow at outreach clinics and assist in preparing clients for procedures.
  • Provide FP services (including BTL and Vasectomy) according to PSI Malawi and Ministry of Health service delivery protocols during outreach clinics.
  • Ensure that client counselling and education standards, including informed choice are adhered to at all times.
  • Appropriately manage and refer complications and/or adverse events reported during outreach clinics.
  • Ensure the equipment for family planning (FP) procedures is cleaned and sterilized in line with infection prevention standards and regulations.
  • Successfully demonstrate technical competence during periodic performance assessments.

Qualification and Experience

Diploma in Clinical Medicine with strong surgical skills, Registered with Medical Council of Malawi and at least three 3 years working experience in performing family planning procedures.


  • Experience in handling gynecological cases, including long-acting and permanent contraceptive methods
  • Pleasant and open attitude to serving clients, including youth.
  • Willingness to travel 75% to rural areas.
  • Skills to analyze, interpret and assist to solve difficult problems
  • Be self –starter, effective team player
