The Malawi Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Alliance has an immediate vacancy for a Youth Country Coordinator (YCC) for a Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Programme – Get Up! Speak Out (GUSO). The Malawi SRHR Alliance is a coalition of six local organisations jointly working together to promote the Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of young people, women and marginalized groups in the country. The six organizations are Centre for Alternatives for Victimized Women and Children (CAVWOC), Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR), Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE), Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM), Youth net and Counselling (YONECO) and the Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (COWLHA). The alliance secretariat is at Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE) in Area 15/6, Gogo Jenala Compound.

Get Up! Speak Out (GUSO) programme is a multinational SRHR Programme supported by Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) from 2016 to 2020. The programme’s main objective is to ensure that all young people are empowered to realize their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in societies that are positive towards young people’s sexuality in Malawi.


  • To promote efficient and effective youth participation in the GUSO programme, to oversee processes of youth participation, to identify best practices, to support young staff members and volunteers in the Alliance partners and to provide linking & learning opportunities
  • To encourage active and Meaningful Youth Participation of national alliance and partner organization level in all aspects of the programme
  • To ensure on-going updates on the programme for the youth (staff/volunteers) as well as country alliance members on issues related to effective youth participation
  • To ensure timely preparation of youth participation reports, ensure that documentation meets Meaningful Youth Participation standards and donor requirements for approval and progression of the programme.
  • To support the National Programme Coordinator (NPC) to co-ordinate the preparation of programme and related publications to promote awareness and lesson-learning on youth participation
  • To advise the National Steering Committee (NSC) to effectively implement youth participation at all stages of the programme cycle
  • To ensure effective partnerships with relevant youth (serving) organizations in Malawi
  • To coordinate and facilitate the content and logistics for capacity building meetings and consultations planned for young people and partner organizations in the alliance around Meaningful Youth Participation
  • Provide partner organizations with full information on youth participation initiatives within the GUSO programme and solicit their proactive support in engaging young staff members/volunteers
  • Manage, update and promote alliance’s social media forums for alliance programmes visibility


  • Experience: Experience in implementation or coordination of projects/activities relating to young people’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, including youth participation.
  • Education: Preferably Degree in Social Sciences or any Social Development field from a recognized learning institution.
  • Skills: Project management skills, analytical skills, technical report writing skills, communication skills, attentive to detail, committed to follow standard office procedures, good level of computer literacy (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English, articulate, tactful and diplomatic.
  • Applicants should be ages below 25 years.
